The webcomic Nimona posted its last page today!! I had the honor of watching it grow from cute characters in a sketchbook to the beautiful finished comic it is today, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. I can tell you that the amount of love, time, skill, and straight up hands-dirty hard work that Noelle put into this project was immense— and in my opinion, well worth it. Nimona is a phenomenal comic.
I hope you’re all as excited as me to see it published in book form come early next year!! Make sure to grab a copy! If ever there were a book deserving of your pre-ordering, it’s Nimona.

AIMEE IM GONNA CRY

So while I really enjoyed this comic by ModMad, the ending was killing me because it was just so darn depressing. Doodled this to make me feel a bit better and also because I love Grenda and her canon freakish strength.

Fun guy chillin’ in South American rainforest finds plastic-eating fungi
Seriously, though this is kind of a big deal. Know that big problem we have? You know, the one involving a crapload of used plastic hanging around in landfills with nowhere to biodegrade for a couple million years? Well, Jonathan Russell might’ve solved that problem. See, Russell and his fellow Yale students went to Ecuador, where they found a new kind of fungus they’re calling Pestalotiopsis microspora. Big deal, you’re thinking. Anyone can find fungus anywhere! Well, something his fellow students found out after the fact is that this fungus can live on a diet of polyurethane alone — and even crazier, it doesn’t even need air to do so! In other words, we could potentially put it at the bottom of a landfill and cover it with plastic, and it would do the rest of the work. This might be game-changing if it works as advertised. My father recently lost his job, we lost our house and now on top of this he has been diagnosed with cancer of the lymph nodes.

He is a professional machinist and has been working as one for over 30 years, only to then have his work stolen from him by his own mother and sister.  We’ve been scraping by since then and now that he lost his job we have absolutely nothing to live off of.

He is such a strong person and until yesterday I have never once seen him cry.  We’re absolutely devastated - he has cancer and we have no way to help him.

He has always refused to take money from other people and he has spent his life helping people in need, and now we are the ones who need help.

My mother’s best friend has made a gofundme to try and help us pay our bills (we currently have no income whatsoever) and get him the treatment he so desperately needs.

If you can’t donate then (please, please, please) signal boost this.  I’ll also share with him any supportive asks I receive regarding this..

I love my father so much and I am so afraid to lose him right now.

GOFUNDME

I just showed my mom how much money we’ve raised and how many notes are on this post and she started crying. Please keep signal boosting and thank you all so much!!
